About Naomi

Naomi grew up in South London as the eldest of six sisters. With grandparents from Barbados, Jamaica, Nigeria and England, diversity was the norm for her. She was the first person in her immediate family to go to university, and studied Philosophy, Politics and Economics at the University of Oxford.

Her experience as the only Black person in her year in her Oxford college inspired Naomi to found Target Oxbridge in 2012, while working for diversity specialist Rare. Target Oxbridge is a programme that supports Black African and Caribbean students to secure offers from Oxford and Cambridge and to thrive whilst studying at the universities. The programme has supported thousands of students and Naomi’s work has been a major contributor to the number of Black students at Oxbridge almost quadrupling over the past decade.

Since Target Oxbridge’s launch over a decade ago, Naomi has worked at both the Department for Education and the Treasury, supporting the development of education policy, co-founded the BAME Fast Stream Network, and began working with institutions internationally, consulting on topics such as inclusion, organisational change, culture and representation.

Naomi is a trailblazer within diversity and inclusion, and has paved the way for many from underrepresented ethnic minority groups and lower socioeconomic backgrounds. She is an award-winning professional and has contributed her expertise to a range of high profile projects and reports.

Alongside her consultancy and speaking opportunities, Naomi is currently Rare’s Head of Research.
